This paper aims to identify the notion of equality that is established on the current Constitution of Venezuela and the way this notion is implemented, particularly noting the differences with the experience of preceding governments. By using a multiple approach, this article describes the tendencies of different social indicators, such as unemployment and inflation rates, health and education achievements, income distribution index, public social disbursement and taxa-tion policy. The author also examines some of factors that affect government performance on social policies.
