Resumen

DEL BUFALO, Enzo. Globalization and the Challenge for Economic Theory (Second Part). Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.3, pp.11-35. ISSN 20030507.

This is the second part of an article, whose first part was published in the previous number of the journal. The overall aim of the author is to show how the different approaches to economic theory have been conditioned by the evolution of the modern economic system, from the outset and up to the present, when globalization has conditioned the neoliberal restructuring prevalent during recent decades. After having discussed the relationship between the Nation-State and the modern economy, the State as the space in which the market and production are articulated, and economic theory as the scientific discipline designed to study this articulation and recommend appropriate policies for the national economies, this second part broaches directly the globalization phenomenon and the problems it poses for economic theory.

Palabras clave : Nation-State; National Economy; Economic Theory; Globalization.
