This article discusses what has been understood as self-management from the point of view of contemporary anarchism, reviewing the basic assumptions upon which libertarian authors that deal with the topic have built their perspective, particularly by establishing contrasts with the ideas of hetero-management, co-management and participation. The authors then discuss the conditions and viability of libertarian self-management as a basis for social transformation, conceived as a possible utopia for a positive future.
