GARCIA-GUADILLA¹, María Pilar y LAGORIO², Carlos. The Question of Power and the Social Movements: Reflections after the World Social Forum, Caracas, 2006. Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.3, pp.53-65. ISSN 20030507.
Abstract Since the first World Social Forum, celebrated in Porto Alegre (Brazil) in January 2001, there have been recurrent debates over the problem of power, the ways and means for achieving it and how to exercise it. During the sixth Forum (Caracas, January 2006), these same concerns were present in most of the discussions. President Chávez himself, in a formal greeting to the visitors, explicitly referred to the theme. The authors of this article, without declaring any preference for any of the different positions, offer a contribution to the debate, in the form of a reflection over theoretical aspects of the discussion and their relevance in the current political situation in Venezuela
