Resumen

LARRIQUE P, Diego. Utopia and Science in the Social Science Classics. Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.3, pp.67-95. ISSN 20030507.

Abstract This article examines the major works of Marx, Durkheim and Weber, the classics of sociological thought, in order to capture the way in which they approach the notions of utopia and science. This involves recreating their respective visions of the possible future development of the societies they analyzed. It also raises the question of the relationship between their notions of science and the more contemporary concepts of method and science that nevertheless invoke one or another of the classical traditions. Finally, the author offers a brief review of some contemporary discussions that he considers relevant for a recasting of our vision of future social developments

Palabras clave : Utopia; Science; Marx; Durkheim; Weber; Social Theory.
