GUTIERREZ¹, Carlos; NAVARRETE², Rodrigo y TOVAR³, Marianela. Diverse and Socialist: Sexual Diversity in Twenty First-Century Socialism. Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.2, pp.103-123. ISSN 20030507.
Broach the debate over the relationship between sexual diversity and twenty first-century socialism involves the delicate task of using concepts that are only recently being explored and are therefore not all that clearly-defined. This article offers the historical reflections on sexual diversity and gender amongst feminists, womens studies, those of gays and lesbians, queer theory and the studies of sexual diversity. It also analyzes the experiences of sexual diversity in the socialist societies of the twentieth century. The authors go on to argue that only on the basis of a permanent, critical and committed participation of the community defined as culturally and sexually diverse, can there be hope of building a more humane society
