Resumen

BIARDEAU R, Javier. Transition to a New Twenty First-Century Socialism? : A Debate that is Barely Commencing. Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.2, pp.145-179. ISSN 20030507.

This article offers an initial, schematic approximation to the central points related to the polemical transition towards a ‘twenty first-century socialism’ within the context of the ‘Bolivarian revolution’ headed by Hugo Chávez. The author argues that its prospects depend on the capacity to articulate the needs, demands and aspirations of the dominated and excluded sectors, groups and classes, but with a clear commitment to vindicate the plurality and diversity of the accumulated human experiences, and a recognition of the right to preserve the different identities, and the ways of thinking, understanding, feeling and living

Palabras clave : Bolivarian Revolution; Socialism; Pluralism; Diversity; Venezuela.
