In the “Carolina Uslar de Rodríguez Llamosas” Assistance Unit in Caracas, the Libreparlantes (“Free Speakers”) Radio Project for the Promotion of New Social Practices Among Adolescents in Custody has developed since June 2005. The Project is an initiative of the Voces Latentes Civil Association, formed by a students´ group from the Central University of Venezuela. This research studied the identity results of the project. First, the custodial institution characteristics were analyzed, especially the forms of social control and the work carried out regarding the subjectivity of the internees. Then the effect of the use of radio communication on the identity processes reformulation was evaluated. The research comprised adolescents who were in custody from June 2005 to July 2006.
