The article attempts to contribute to the analysis of the always-changing Venezuelan social-political reality, advancing answers to questions opened with the defeat of the proposal for the reform of the Constitution. It is organized in five parts: the first one presents the political context from which the proposal of reform originally came from. The second synthesizes the principal contents of the mentioned proposition. The third one is dedicated to evaluate the quality of the generated debate for the proposition design as well as during the campaign before the referendum. The fourth part presents a comparative analysis of the electoral results of the December referendum with previous electoral results. It concludes with a fifth part in which is presented a tentative study of political trends in the country as result of the defeated of the proposal for the reform of the Constitution.
