This article offers a reflection on the situation of Venezuelan women during the course of the last decade. It consists of four parts. The first is an introduction which contextualizes the problem and presents the central ideas. Secondly, there is an analysis of the recent decade (1999-2009) viewed from the perspective of women’s participation. Thirdly, the authors present their most pressing concerns. And, finally, they offer some tentative conclusions designed to stimulate further research.
