This study attempts to explore the elements needed to know how organizations in the commune of Puerto Montt , Chile, carry out the process of recruiting and selecting staff. The study addresses the major theoretical and practical bases related to the theme; likewise, it presents and analyzes the results of a survey applied to organizations in the Puerto Montt commune, to find out how they carry out the process of obtaining staff, the importance that this process has for the organizations, the most important aspects they consider when selecting a candidate, the advantages of applying one technique over others, the most-used methods and a series of other data that contribute significantly to the study.
