This study will analyze the life and work of Mariano Picón-Salas (1901-1964), and assess their cultural heritage. Picón-Salas is one of the most universal intellectual; Venezuela has offered up to humanity, his thinking is wide and deep on various issues, particularly concerned about: the history, education and culture, expressed in a masterful way through trial, which made his lordship, whose results were reflected in numerous books. Also, the Meridian exercise different facets and works during various stages of its existence, marked by the comings and goings of the turbulent first five decades of the twentieth century, both in his homeland and in other latitudes, the Americas and Europe, as a writer, historian university professor, journalist, ambassador and founder of academic and cultural institutions continue working as: the National Pedagogical Institute (1936, UPEL), the National Cultural Review (1938), the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UCV (1946) The National Institute of Culture and Fine Arts (1963), among others. In short, Picón-Salas was an example of personal perseverance to the "errancia" of his time, of democratic struggle and social commitment to human welfare.
