BRICENO MONZON, Claudio Alberto. The Essequibo and the Malvinas: a territorial claim is not achieved by Argentina and Venezuela in Latin America. Tiempo y Espacio [online]. 2010, vol.20, n.54, pp.65-76. ISSN 1315-9496.
All of the frontier is the epidermis, ie a strip of territory that serves as contact surface with neighboring states on both sides of the boundaries, therefore, are areas of tension and conflict as a result, inter alia, the spatial extent of power. Borders are human constructions, and each country, state or region, takes the identity in these areas, and will be changing situations of tension and conflict in political, economic and territorial disputes, among others. Every border has a genesis and the current delimitation of boundaries corresponds to the choice of a spatial strategy, which includes a combination of geopolitical decisions, typical of a historical context, and which are the territories fronterizos. En the particular case of Latin America we can talk about borders as a uniform experience, as there have been many borders, and these have different meaning in time and space, which can show in many border conflicts that have developed since the nineteenth century to century. Therefore in this work we intend to present a comparative view of two individuals in conflict border areas of Argentina and Venezuela, as is the case of the Malvinas and the Essequibo.
