MARQUEZ MONTOYA, Bárbara y QUINONES P, María del Carmen. Cultural-historical interdisciplinarity in regional studies in Cuba. Tiempo y Espacio [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.61, pp.193-204. ISSN 1315-9496.
Current research in Cuba, especially in the Eastern Region, has enriched its historiography, but from a cultural perspective. Such a function is acquired due to the existence of universal invariants of culture: economy, work techniques and instruments, social organization, language, marriage, family, beliefs, art, festivities, etc. All these aforementioned variants are subjects of study of the Historical Sciences. Th erefore the objective of this article is to show the relation between Culture and Historical Sciences by analyzing the actual situation of research in the Eastern Region of Cuba, using the provinces of Holguin, Granma and Las Tunas as principal references. Culture and History go hand in hand and cannot be studied separately; though there have been cases of theorizing about the supremacy of one or another, the reality is that they are closely related. Isnt it true that historians have recourse to culture and cultural scholars use history? Today, national and regional researchers have changed according to the form, style of writing and reflecting the relations of men from diff erent angles; today they write in order to show realities that were not touched before by researchers and writers. They have approached themes about sexuality, the presence of blacks, alimentation, life in the mambí countryside, artistic manifestations, but all related to events, as an important part of historic processes.
