The United Fruit Company and Cuban American Sugar Company invested in the sugar industry during the fi rst years of the century XIX. It was through the establishment of modern sugar mill in the oriental region of the country. Th e employees were living in communities which name was bateyes, were made to keep the workers during the sugar harvest. From 1915, the owners cuban-spanish made new sugar mill more small and with less production motivated by the stable prices. Th e first one of them in the northeastern region of Cuba was Tacajó, in 1916. Next this was the new sugar batey very similar with the american sugar mill. Th ey took as reference the distribution of the inhabited space and diff erent kind of buildings. One century later the majority of the wood buildings of these communities have disappearing without the support of the government or some institution to stop the destruction. Soon the traditional buildings will disappear like a time footprint. For this reason it’s necessary to make projects for to keep the cuban architectural heritage among 1900 and 1930.
