With Brazil's entry into the World War Two, in 1942, the possibility of an invasion of northeastern Brazil presented in vivid and real colors. In the context of Northeast Operations Theatre, the Fernando de Noronha archipelago represented a defense of the so-called strategic triangle vertices, and to defend him, the Brazilian Army organized a Joint Detachment, strong in artillery units, able to cope with an atack. This article aims to revisit the history of the presence of the Brazilian Army on the island during the 2nd World War and analyze the role of artillery units on the defensive device.
