RUIZ DE GORDEJUELA URQUIJO, Jesús. The royal artillery in the attempt of reconquest of Mexico. Tiempo y Espacio [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.67, pp.112-134. ISSN 1315-9496.

In spite of being unknown to the general public, the attempt to Spanish reconquest of Mexico had great transcendency for the new republic, because on the one hand its successful defense consolidated its independence and, on the other hand, it served to his defender General Santa Anna as a catapult to gain power. The commander of the invading army was Brigadier Isidro Barradas, a Canarian military resident in Venezuela that after its failure suffered the political consequences of the government of an ungrateful king. Throughout this article we have tried to echo especially the role played by the royalist artillery, analyzing their characteristics, actions and weapons during the summer of 1829 on the front of Tampico.

Palavras-chave : Artillery; Barradas; conquest; Mexico; 1829; army; Tampico.
