PEREZ CABRERA, Noemí Guadalupe  e  ORTIZ DELGADO, Francisco Miguel. Panoramic view of the militar and political power in Guanajuato (1836-1846). Tiempo y Espacio [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.67, pp.200-215. ISSN 1315-9496.

In the present article it is analyzed the econcomical and social conditions of the army inside the State or Department of Guanajuato (Mexico) from 1836 to 1846. In the face of political and security difficulties Mexico´s army functioned during Centralism as a constabulary body, making of it a political tool that provoked multiple conflicts and setbacks. In the case of Guanajuato the military vicissitudes augmented due the struggle of the regional elite (composed by entrepreneurs, landowners, professionals and mine-owners) for obtaining a bigger political participation, which would be obtained through the army. The bigger participation was achieved thanks to the better education of the guanajuatenses in comparison with the citizens from other zones of the country, they achieved multiple positions of high rank inside the army and excelling as very capable leaders and generals. Nevertheless, the state of affairs of the privates and low rank officers was precarious regarding clothes, instruction and armament, and the continuing changes of regimen did nothing to improve this deplorable picture.
