Abstract

FINOL, José Enrique. Globalización y cultura: Estrategias simbólicas y vida cotidiana. Revista de Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.3, pp.454-475. ISSN 1315-9518.

This paper analyzes the relationships among globalization, culture and everyday life based on the semiotic theories of Lotman and Pross and the sociology of everyday life according to Heller. To support the analysis, reference is made to some examples taken from contemporary cultural reality in Venezuela and Latin America. In conclusion, two models that seek to represent the semiotic processes of tension/resistance and tension/attraction underlying the encounters between different cultures are proposed.

Keywords : Globalization; symbolic strategies; semiosphere; tension; everyday life.
