The purpose of this article is to present partial results of a larger investigation about the relationship between academic performance and attainment motivation at level in higher education, as part of a diagnostic study carried out by the authors at the University Nucleus Rafael Rangel University of Andes in Trujillo, Venezuela. Methodologically, in a first phase, the study is about the theoretical analysis of these two variables, starting from a bibliographic, hemerographic and field approach to find out the state of knowledge about the variables, both separately and correlated; conclusions lead to confirming the relationship existing between the variables.
