LEAL MORANTES, Miraidy Elena. The use of information technologies by sames in the textile sector in Maracaibo. Revista de Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.2, pp.317-328. ISSN 1315-9518.
In recent years, a rapid technological advance has been produced, propitiating greater business efficiency in some organizations. Nevertheless, in the sector of small and medium enterprises, many organizations have been left behind technologically, making their management and the possibility of competing successfully in the market more difficult. The objective of this study is to analyze the use of information technologies in SAMEs of the textile sector located in the Municipality of Maracaibo, State of Zulia. The research developed through a descriptive study; to collect data, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied, using the interview mode, to owners, presidents, managers and administrators of 16 businesses. Results show that in the sector under study, the degree of technology use is slight, despite the benefits offered for business management and efforts of the national government to foment its use. Conclusions are that some factors, such as the difficulty of accessing qualified labor, replacement parts and adequate technical support, as well as the high costs of acquisition, limit its use.
