The objective of this study was to perform a situational analysis of the Regional Hydraulic System Company in Trujillo, S.A. (ERSHT, S.A.), in terms of its potential as an instrument to promote technopoles in the State of Trujillo. Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis of information obtained from the restructuring process developed during the business management period 21/06/1999 to 28/03/2001, backed up by a juridical-legal study and in consultation with workers, technicians and directors of the ERSHT, S.A., it was possible to determine a series of strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats, which led to specifying some organizational components that would be important for improving the company’s productivity through self-management, using as a support basis application of the integral management plan for hydraulic resources in the Motatán River basin, State of Trujillo, defined between 1993 and 1995. Based on this analysis, conclusions were that ERSHT, S.A., could become, in the short and medium term, a company that promotes integral, sustainable development in the State of Trujillo, through these local production systems (technopoles).
