The purpose of this study is to construct conceptual categories based on what has been expressed by a group of ten researcher-professors, regarding how the knowledge production process is managed at the University of the Andes. For data collecting and analysis, some guidelines of the fundamented theory were considered. Five conceptual categories were constructed: a) knowledge production, b) philosophy of knowledge as support, c) diffusion and divulgation of knowledge, d) management of knowledge, e) planning and organization of the knowledge production process. Based on these categories, six principles were generated that support knowledge production and management at the ULA, which have been published in the Journal of the University and Knowledge Society.
