DE WEFFER, Rixia V. Formulation of Strategies in Manufacturing, Electricity and Mining Companies. Revista Venezolana de Gerencia [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.46, pp.215-227. ISSN 1315-9984.
This research examined the process of formulating strategies for medium and large companies in manufacturing, electricity and mining. The theoretical foundation was based on the authors Mintzberg, H., Ahlstrand, B. and Lampel, J. (2003), Puerta (2007), Ronda (2004), Gerstein (1988), Morrisey (1996), Kaplan, R. and Norton, D. (2004), Viana, H., Cervilla, M. Avalos, I. and Balaguer, A. The research was of a descriptive, field type with a non-experimental, trans-sectional design. The population was represented by 63 companies registered with the chamber of industry in the State of Zulia. The most important findings were the presence of mission and vision with elements to meet organizational objectives in all sectors, presenting first the objectives for earnings growth. They exhibit objectives to improve service quality, increase customer satisfaction, lower unit costs, reduce re-working costs and ultimately, goals for retaining key personnel and developing key staff competences. Conclusions were that companies in the manufacturing and mining sectors have strategy formulating processes based on intuition; on the other hand, companies in the electricity distribution sector formulate strategies as a formal process.
