Resumen

MALDONADO, Juan Regino  y  VERA-CRUZ, Alexandre O. Intangible Resources in the Performance of the Machining Industry in Mexico. Revista Venezolana de Gerencia [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.47, pp.311-341. ISSN 1315-9984.

Based on a resource-based theory, the objective of this study is to analyze differences in the performance of the SAMEs belonging to the machining industry in Mexico. Certain intangible resources were identified, such as culture, knowledge, innovation and links of cooperation among the SAMEs,analyzing their influence on performance. The study is based on the supposition that the performance differences are attributable to the heterogeneity of the SAMEs endowment, associated with the company.s strategy,in which advantages of the industrial structure are considered. The research was designed with criteria of a transversal-type study. Surveys were given to 283 owners and directors of SAMEs in 2005 and 2006,of which 179 corresponded to companies in Querétaro and 104 to Juarez. Based on multiple regression analysis, the study concluded that the companies in Juarez have a performance superior to those in Querétaro, achieving the development of a cultural and functional capacity. Performance differences are attributed to heterogeneity in the intangible resources and the capacities of the company.
