Actions to adapt schools to local characteristic have been taken in the Jiménez district in the Lara state. As part of the project "The University Goes to School" (LUVE), the objective of the investigation was the proposal of various strategies to measure the organizational school change in these institutions. The study, in the research-action-participation line, included three rural schools and the Education District Team. It was completed in two parts. First, an organizational school change was induced by applying the LUVEs Mediation Social Technology and the Argyris and Shön Theory of Action. Second, suitable strategies for change were design to match the site. The methodology used was the exploration of the theory in use by the actors and the instruments Maps, Models I and II, and the Inference Staircase combined with the Glasser and Strauss Continuos Coparative Method. Techniques for collecting quantitative and qualitative data were used. The results comprised descriptions of institutional behavior, inhibiting and encouraging factors for change, and useful strategies for transformation of local institutions.
