This paper proposes the synthesis of Ditizone (Difeniltiocarbazone) as a lab exercise that integrates the fundamental concepts of Organic Chemistry. The student, through a three estages didactic scheme, will obtain physic and chemistry information of the compound, designs scheme of the synthesis and obtains the product which is purified and submit to simple test of characterization. What we are looking for is that the student be able to explain the reactions involve in the synthesis through the nechanisms that will make use of the concepts such as hybridation, electronic resonance, nucleophilic attacks, etc. The application of the lineal synthesis scheme allows the student to synthezise, step by step, the intermediate compounds that, at the same time, allows the visualization of the successive constructions and transformations of the initial molecular skeleton until the definitive product is obtained. It is consider that the Organic Chemistry courses should, in order to reinforce the student’s knowledge, include synthesis compound exercises.
