PAEZ, Ysmandi; RODRIGUEZ, María A e NIAZ, Mansoor. Los Modelos Atómicos desde la perspectiva de la historia y filosofía de la ciencia: un análisis de la imagen reflejada por los textos de química de bachillerato . Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.1, pp.51-77. ISSN 1316-0087.
Recent studies have point out that the interpretation that General Chemistry college textbooks give of the science evolution, enters in contradiction with historical events. This study has as fundamental purpose to analyze to what degree the image that high school texts give on the evolution of atomic models is accurate with the History and Science Philosophy actual view. Seeking that purpose we analyzed 27 Chemistry high school texts. (16, 9th grade and 11 1st grade). A sequence of rational criteria was employed (Niaz, 1998) reflecting the actual approach of Science Philosophy that allowed us to evaluate, qualitatively, the actual focus on the atomic models of Thomson, Rutherford and Bohr. The results confirm previous studies in which the analyzed texts underline the experimental facts and the use of the scientific method as the most important way to elaborate scientific theories. Concluding, most of the texts do not know the most recent research contributions about science teaching and use the History of Science with a positivist view The study has important implications for the curricular reform, the actualized Chemistry texts and the development of teaching strategies much more signgicant to students and teachers.
