This research, a documental one, shows the study of the origin and evolutionary contexts of educational orientation in Europe as well as in America, specifically in United States and in Venezuela. Furthermore, we analyze the pedagogical basis that lays the foundation of the educative organization in which the orientation practice inserts. Finally, we offer a reflection about the historical processes and situations that have had an influence in the development of new models, roles and researches in this field.
