This paper exposes and makes operational the instructional system SIVI 1.0. The goal of this model is satisfying the information need of the vocational orientation process in engineering at the UCV. The multimedia Computerized Educational Material (MEC) is meant to become an important tool to help new engineering students to decide the specialization that best fits the interests and vocational inclinations. All the aspects that structure the pedagogical platform are presented in detail linking them to the Cognitivist approach of the learning process that frames the investigation. Some implications for the instructional design of multimedia Computerized Educational Material are also discussed.
