Abstract

COELHO, Franklin; ROMERO, Mariana  and  YABER, Guillermo. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS TO ACADEMIC GRADUATE PROGRAMS. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2005, vol.20, n.2, pp.123-153. ISSN 1316-0087.

Key performance indicators (KPI) for a Management graduate program in a public university in Venezuela are proposed, measured and evaluated, using the Behavioral Management Systems (BMS) (Yáber, Malott and Valarino, 1998) and the systemic view of organization and management (CGRV, 1999a). The program was analyzed from a functional point of view considering its support, key and management. Opportunities to improve the program were found in the management process, particularly in the formulation of the mission and the generation of management indicators. Amission statement and a group of indicators were formulated that allowed self-evaluation, orientation and continuous monitoring of the program implementation. It is been proposed to extend this work to the rest of the academic programs and to all the academic departments at the university. The evidence suggests that the Behavioral Management Systems can be used extensively as a resource for the development of management internal control systems in academic graduate programs in universities.
