MAZZARELLA, Clemen e RIOS, Pablo. Desarrollo y validación de un sistema computarizado para el aprendizaje de un contenido de genética. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2006, vol.21, n.2, pp.11-42. ISSN 1316-0087.
The present article examines the creation and validation of computer software oriented to the learning of curriculum in biology. It was based on pedagogical approaches oriented toward learning capabilities, reflection and application of learned content. The software GENESIS represents an interactive, multimedia system in which students can advance according to their needs, have control of the learning process, get immediate feedback and maintain a record of their interactive activities. The study followed the special project model and it was based on a descriptive field study of the semi experimental type. Pretests and posttest were applied to a sample of 55 secondary education students in order to evaluate three variables: curriculum learning, development of metacognitive abilities and attitude towards science. The results showed how the system promotes learning and metacognitive abilities, contributes to generate a favourable attitude towards science, and accommodates different learning styles. GENESIS is a technological resource that can be part of current pedagogical approaches. It can also be used as a departing point for future research projects looking into the integration of TIC to educational processes.
