Abstract

ARTEAGA QUINTERO, Marlene. Shortrt stories with science for childhood in Venezuela. Multiltimedia technology as a learning tool. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2007, vol.22, n.2, pp.11-56. ISSN 1316-0087.

Transdisciplinary and transversal classroom work and the requirements of didactic materials adequate to this new view have promoted the formulation of proposals that may satisfy the needs that have often been diagnosed. The work that Basic School teachers have to carry out, especially in the second stage, motivated the design and production of a set of didactic materials in electronic (multimedia) format entitled Short Stories with Science for Childhood in Venezuela (Cuentos con ciencia para la infancia de Venezuela). Its main aim is to support the teacher in the interrelation of academic areas, on the basis of a set of narrative texts which are directly linked with elements from Geography, History and Natural Sciences. The methodology employed was that of special projects with a qualitative-quantitative approach. Throughout the process, the contents of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences were validated by means of an instrument designed ad hoc. The ultimate aim of the work is to provide teachers of first and second stage of Basic School with a tool that is adequate to the dynamics required by new technologies as well as by philosophical and pedagogical precepts of the National Basic Curriculum.

Keywords : strategies; multimedia; transversality; transdisciplinarity.
