Abstract

IZARRA, Douglas  and  ESCOBAR, Faviola. Pertinence of research in graduate studies at the upel-impm. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2007, vol.22, n.2, pp.147-163. ISSN 1316-0087.

The purpose of this article is to present results of the first stage of a project aimed at ascertaining the academic and social pertinence of the research developed in graduate studies at the UPEL-IMPM. Three Specialization Sub-programs and one Master’s Sub-program were analyzed following a documentary research procedure. The results show evidence of a focus on the formulation of operative models and a limited number of works of application, description and evaluation. The conclusions state the necessity of re-thinking research orientations in graduate studies from a perspective that may transcend proposals and become concrete in actions emerged from inside the Universities for the promotion of the country’s development, as stated by the Consejo Nacional de Universidades.

Keywords : social pertinence; academic pertinence; graduate studies; research.
