This study covers the teaching-learning aspect of the research processes in the field of teacher training. Student-teacher encounters are considered scenarios where scientific and non-scientific knowledge converge and become determining elements of pedagogic practices. The aim is to study the determining elements for research learning from the students’ and the professors’ perspective. In addition it examines other aspects that may favour university research. The recorded interview was implemented with an interpretative approach, it was applied as a descriptive technique to fifteen (15) university students (9^th and 10^th semester), as well as to three (3) postgraduate students and eight (8) professors on active service of the Maracay campus of the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador. The results were categorized by means of a penta-dimensional matrix. The outcome were 6 categories: 1) institutional resources and incentives; 2) Researcher’s disposition towards work; 3) researcher’s attitude and motivation; 4) Epistemological stand. Subject-Object Relationship; 5) group, accompaniment and academic peers; 6) Teaching-Research Relationship. From these results some theoretical implications were drawn with regard to the practices and knowledge inherent to the research learning processes and their determining elements in the institute.
