ALTERIO A, Gianfranco H y RUIZ BOLIVAR, Carlos. Metacognitive level and perception of the quality of the teaching strategies of Health Science Teachers. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.3, pp.89-105. ISSN 1316-0087.
The purpose of this study is to asses the metacognitive level of the teachers and their perception of the quality of the teaching strategies used in the courses included in the pensum. The informant group was made up by 59 subjects of the School of Medicine of the Universidad Centrooccidental "Lisandro Alvarado"; 38 belonged to the School of Medicines basic studies and 21 to the School of Nurses. A set of values for each was used in order to measure the variables of interest. The technical study assessed that they fulfilled the psicometric requirements for this type of instrument. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques (average, standard deviation and frequency distributions) and differential (F and t tests) techniques. The results show that: a) in 89,05% of the cases the metacognitive level of the informants was moderate or very low; b) in the variable perception of the quality of learning strategies, 76.27 % were excellent or good, and c) no significative correlations were found between the two variables. Thus we can conclude that the levels moderate-very low of metacognition have no relationship with the way in which the informants perceive the quality of the learning strategies they used in their pedagogical practices.
