Abstract

The aim of this work is to remake the observation phase of professional practice in the context of the training of the Bilingual Interculture Education teachers offered by the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL) in the framework of the transformation and updating of the curricula for the training of university teachers. The key informants were: the students of Observation Phase 1 of the Bilingual Interculture Training Programme, for the periods B-2006 and A-2007 at the communities and schools Caño la Guardia and Piedra Azul, of the Apure State and the members of the Indigenous community. This qualitative research is based on the critical-transforming educational approach and follows the methodology of participating action research. The data gathering techniques used were: participative obsservation; reflection forums, and in depth interviews. Interpretation of meanings and academic training meetings for the participants were used to analyze the information. Among others, the conclusion reached was that it is necessary to come up with ideas to manage an intercultural school in an indigenous context.
