Resumo

The goal of this study is to propose guidelines for performance self-evaluation in teaching, research and extension functions at the Instituto Pedagógico de Miranda "José Manuel Siso Martínez". Previous works that give a diagnosis and an analysis of the evaluation of the teacher’s performance, as well as the results of experiences at university level were analyzed by means of a documentary research in order to asses the present situation of the practice of evaluation in this field. Different teacher performance evaluation models were also studied so as to generate the guidelines intended. The study concluded that teacher evaluation is an essential element of the educational process as it contributes to improve his professional activities, fosters personal growth and consequently favourably influences the quality of education.
