One of Unesco’s most important activities is to foster the exchange of information and experiences on the trends and advances in higher education, promote research and help the Member States in their efforts to improve the training systems of this educational level. Given this premise, this work offers this organization’s most specific activities starting with the UNITWIN Programme and the UNESCO Chairs. Then goes on to list and define the various Chairs founded in Latin America, especially in Venezuela. Among them the following stand out on the basis of their foundation, goals and objectives: UNESCO Chair: Free Planet towards a culture of peace; UNESCO Chair on Philosophy; UNESCO Regional Chair on Computer Networks; UNESCO Chair for the improvement of the quality and equity of education in Latin America based on reading and writing; UNESCO Chair/FLACSO-Buenos Aires: Science and Technology in Latin America; UNESCO/UPEL Chair: Education for peace.
