GONZALEZ, Adlih; MONCADA, José Alí  y  ARANGUREN, Jesús. Attitudes and behavior towards wildlife from the visitors perspective of the bararida park, Barquisimeto, Venezuela. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.1, pp.227-248. ISSN 1316-0087.

Zoos are valuable spaces for educating the population about conservation and sustainable use of wildlife. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes and behaviors toward wildlife from the visitorsperspective of the Zoo and Botanic garden in “Bararida”, Barquisimeto, Lara state, Venezuela. For this 378 interviews were applied to visitors of this zoo during the busiest days. There was a glaring inconsistency between attitudes (knowledge of endangered species and assessment of animals for ecological reasons) and behaviors, such as pet ownership, hunting and meat consumption or animal parts.

Palabras clave : Attitude; wildlife; zoo.
