This research is an approach to the current situation of the environmental dimension in the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador, bearing in mind two  erspectives: the fundamental functions of the university and the opinion of teachers, students and managers on the environmental praxis of the institution. Curricular units of  ergraduate and graduate specialties, extension activities, units and lines of research and opinion of the learning community on environmental praxis were studied. The vision offered by different managers interviewed reflects the weaknesses of the university management for environmental performance.
