This  research  is  part  of  a  macro  project  sponsored  by  the  Vice-Chancellorship  of  Research  and  Graduate  Studies  of  the  Universidad Pegadogica  Experimental  Libertador  (UPEL),  based  on  the  current situation  of  the  environmental  education  at  the  undergraduate-graduate scales. A diagnosis and a critical analysis were performed at the Instituto Pedagogico  “Rafael  Alberto  Escobar  Lara”,  taking  into  account  the existing  approaches  at  national  and  international  level.  The  fieldwork of this research is exploratory and explanatory. Analysis of content and statistics were used as data analysis techniques. Triangulation was used as a method of matching. The results showed there is a lack of courses related to the environment, and the functions of extension and research reflect the same trend. The results aim to the renovation of the university curriculum, making it more relevant to the global view of the environment.
