CEVALLOS, Ivete; SOUSA, Josimar e CORVALAN-VASQUEZ, Oscar. Professional master in the teaching of mathematics: reasons for teachers of elementary education to apply and the programs contribution to ponder over their teaching practice. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2015, vol.30, n.1, pp.11-32. ISSN 1316-0087.
The main focus of this study is to identify the reasons why teachers of Elementary Education who graduated from the Professional Master in Teaching Mathematics Program of the Pontificial Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC / SP) / Brazil, aspire to achieve level "StritoSensu" and the program contribution to ponder over their teaching practice. The methodology used is qualitative and interpretative. Both analysis and referencing material are supported by interviews and questionnaires to teachers who have completed the course during the 2004-2008 period. The data indicates that some of the graduates motivations were: to work at the university; specific training needs; new requirements detected from their teaching practice. Discussions, theoretical readings and the research developed, trigger a systematic process to ponder and think over the teacher's work, reducing the difficulties encountered in the process of teaching and learning.
Palavras-chave : teacher training; ponder over practice; motivations for improvement in mathematics education.
