The purpose of this study is to analyze the epistemological foundations of the Curriculum Design of the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL), which guides professional practice as an integrating and dynamic axis of the curriculum. It is limited within the interpretive perspective and the qualitative methodology for the approach of reality. The analysis was based on the confrontation of the epistemological aspects with the reality manifested in the current educational context. Among the results obtained, it is highlighted that the Curriculum Design of UPEL (2011) provides a precise theoretical foundation in its elaboration. The epistemological perspective claims the search for what training means and gives meaning to the process of professional practice oriented mainly in the recovery of subjectivity and in the rescue of daily life as a basic scenario to understand the socio-educational reality.
