Resumen

CACERES, Daniel. Agricultura Orgánica versus Agricultura Industrial: Su Relación con la Diversificación Productiva y la Seguridad Alimentaria. Agroalim [online]. 2003, vol.8, n.16, pp.29-39. ISSN 1316-0354.

This work analyzes links between organic agriculture and industry with productivity diversification and food security. From a case study, problems related to two groups of peasants from North Eastern Argentina  are discussed (one of them related to the organic production of vegatables and other to tabacco cultivation). Though both groups had designed very diverse systems from the productivity point of view, producers linked to organic agriculture had the greatest product diversification and guarantee food security. This is also a consequence of the conditions in which the productive process has taken place, especially of the environmental heterogeneity, the low productivity in the technology used and theeminent folk art character of peasant production.

Palabras clave : organic agriculture; industrial agriculture; food security; production systems; Argentine.
