Dehanding effect on bunch weight and dimensions of fruits of the hybrid of plantain FHIA 21 (Musa AAAB) The effect of three levels of hand removal on fruit dimension and bunch weight of hybrid FHIA 21 plantain (Musa AAAB) were evaluated at Sabaneta, Barinas State. Treatment comparisons were made within bunches of equal number of hands and within hands of equal position on the bunch. Weight of bunch and number of fruits per bunch were negatively affected by dehanding intensities (P 0.001), the largest values corresponding to bunches without dehanding. There were differences (P 0.036) in fruit length for the fourth hand of the bunch and no significant differences were found on fruit diameter. Results indicate that the removal of hands did not improve the weight of bunch or the dimensions of the remaining fruits.
