Abstract
CASTANON NAJERA¹, Guillermo; HIDALGO CANO, Héctor and JEFFERS, Dan. Heterosis en siete líneas de maíz para tolerancia al achaparramiento y rendimiento de grano. Bioagro [online]. 2003, vol.15, n.1, pp.65-73. ISSN 1316-3361.
The performance of seven maize lines and their F1 progenies was studied during 1997 and 1998. The germoplasm was evaluated by the percentage of the Maize bushy stunt (MBS), transmited by Dalbulus maydis, and grain yield (GY). For the heterosis estimation and combinatory ability, the Gardner and Eberhart model II was applied. Based upon the estimated of heterosis and its components, it was detected a partial dominance for MBS resistance. For grain yield it was found that the most productive crosses, were those coming from a resistant x a susceptible parent. According to the results, it is possible to establish that dwarfing resistance genes are independent from those that determine grain yield.
