BORGES, Misterbino; VAZQUEZ, Joel e RODRIGUEZ, Aracelis. Agar preparation from distillery must and soybeam meal for microbial contaminant detection in plant tissue culture environment. Bioagro [online]. 2003, vol.15, n.3, pp.217-220. ISSN 1316-3361.
The early detection of the microbial contamination is essential to prevent losses and successfully achieve a plant propagation process by biotechnology. In the present experiment the complementary effect of the distillery must agar (DMA) at 40 % with soybean meal (SM) for efficient detection of microbial contaminants in the environment of plant tissue culture evaluated . The following combinations were used to detect bacterial contaminant detection: DMA at 40%; DMA at 40 % + 10 g/L SM; DMA at 40 % + 20 g/L SM, and nutrient agar (control); and for fungus contaminant: DMA at 40 %; DMA at 40 % + 10 g/L SM, and potato dextrose agar (control). The results showed that DMA at 40 % + 10 g/L SM can substitute significantly potato dextrose agar for fungi contaminant detection, and DMA at 40 % + 20 g/L SM may be used alternatively instead of nutrient agar for bacterial contaminant detection.
