Abstract

PINA ZAMBRANO, Henri; AZOCAR, Rhode; LUGO, Zunilde  and  ROMERO, Carlos. Aloe (Aloe barbadensis L.) farmer characterization in Falcon State, Venezuela. Bioagro [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.1, pp.25-34. ISSN 1316-3361.

The aloe represents a crop from which annually primary goods are generated for a value of US $ 67 millions and final goods for more than US $105 thousand of millions. The attractiveness of this market contrasts with the marginal character that exhibits the exploitation in Falcon State, Venezuela, so the objective of this investigation was directed to conform the groups of producers in this State. The research was sustained in the incompatibility of the current production outlines and the goods generated during the process, with the requirements of raw material by the agroindustry. It was identified four types of producers of aloe, being denominated as advancing, traditional, stand by and critical. It was concluded that a series of technical approaches can be established to guide a process of planned development, taking strategically in consideration different options of development.

Keywords : Agroindustry; commercialization; farmer.
