Abstract

MARTINEZ, Raúl; BOUERI, Millena Ariana  and  ESCALONA, Pedro. Correlation between pan evaporation and the evapotranspiration calculated from five climatological stations in Venezuela . Bioagro [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.2, pp.79-83. ISSN 1316-3361.

With the purpose of obtaining the evapotranspiration equations more adapted to different zones, we used the Penman-Monteith, Hargreaves, García-López, Thornthwaite and Blaney-Criddle equations to calculate ETo and correlated with the pan evaporation measured at the following climatic stations in Venezuela: Mesa de Cavacas (Portuguesa State), Naranjal and Yaracuy (Yaracuy State) and Tarabana and Quíbor (Lara State). For that purpose a minimum correlation coefficient of 0.65 was established and 12 years of records in each station were used (1989-2000). The equation of Penman-Monteith produced the best correlation in the Naranjal station. In the Yaracuy and Mesa de Cavacas stations, the Hargreaves equation gave the best correlation. In Tarabana and Quíbor stations no satisfactory results were found. The use of Penman-Monteith equation is suggested in Naranjal, Hargreaves in Yaracuy, and depending on the availability of data, the Penman-Monteith, Hargreaves or García-Lopez in Mesa de Cavacas.
